Elevating Single Moms: Meeting Practical Needs

Sorting Room: getting items ready to be dispersed to single mom families

Donated clothing in the Blessing Boutique

From day one, God has blessed The GLOWW Center (TGC) with the resources to provide exactly what the women being served need. If you’ve ever heard of The GLOWW Center, you may have heard our Mission, to “strengthen, educate, and elevate the lives of single mom families with a goal of transformed lives and self-sustainability.” TGC provides non-perishable food (boxed and canned), and feminine hygiene products. And as a a Diaper Bank Agent, we provide diapers for babies and toddlers.

The women who use the services of TGC are able to visit the Blessing Boutique once a month and choose from a range of clothing, shoes, and accessories at no cost to them. And this is all thanks to those who have donated their clothing and accessories. The clothing that is most needed by our single moms are sizes XS-M (0-8/10).

In our Food Pantry, we are donated non-perishable foods such as boxed goods and canned food. The volunteers of the Food Pantry sort and bag the food, and single moms are able to either come to our Center and pick-up, or our volunteers go to them with their items. The food items mostly needed are breakfast foods (such as cereal and boxed milk, oatmeal, etc) and other boxed foods.

Many women are also in need of feminine hygiene products, especially with the shortages that our country has recently faced. These are items that a woman may not necessarily ask for, yet are needed on a monthly basis, and are currently being charged at a higher rate in grocery stores.

God has shown us that He is faithful, and we pray that we will continue to be able to provide these items for these women in a time of need. If you would like to be a part of helping single mom families in the VA Peninsula, please consider donating gently used women’s clothing, non-perishable foods, and/or feminine hygiene products. Just call ahead or email to let us know you’re coming!

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
